under / inner
The physical and psychological space that is present, but unseen. Traditionally, in Western culture, this is where "I" lives, in this "separate center of feeling and action, living inside and bounded by the physical body." Philosophers and scientists often try to get to the inside or what lies underneath a thing. Alan Watts considered this impossible because as soon as you open something up, what was inside is now outside.
This is also the source of mountains, minerals, and the attraction that holds us all on the surface of this planet.
As I look to my origins, I want to know what underlies them. What is underneath and behind the cultural structure that shaped me in my formative years? Where does my impulse to subvert, critique, and unsettle come from? What makes "what is" what it is? Where do we come from? What is my purpose? What happens after I die?
