the Church
The colloquial name for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (CJCLDS). Members profess that this Church is the "only true church," implying that Christianity is the only true religion and that this church with its belief in restored priesthood, prophets, and other Old Testament rituals and practices is more true than other forms of Christianity. Other names for the Church and it's members are Latter-day Saints (LDS), the Saints, Mormons, and Mormonism. The name 'Mormon' was applied to them by outsiders, because of the name of their scripture. So, here, I will avoid using it.
