Pots are Rocks: The Pottery

Pictureshapes of home, planter
I make and sell hand-built pottery made from hand-dug clays and slips that reference my sense of home. I combine these traditional materials with store bought glazes and underglazes as an expression of identity. I am of this land in that I eat, drink, and breathe from it. And I am not of this land, because as a settler colonist, this is not the place my people evolved with or the place our language emerged from.

Special thanks to my clay mentors: Susan Harris, Russell Wrankle, Bruce Dehnert, Susan Beecher, John Balistreri, Jun Kaneko, Clarence Cruz, and Laura Bruzzese
