problematic
This word is commonly used to signify that an action, word, or words that require deeper consideration. As in, "It is problematic that I have adopted Taoism, Buddhism, and yoga into my spiritual practice, because these are often co-opted, oversimplified, and white-washed in Western culture. I may be perpetuating extractive colonial oppressions." It also alludes to a certain complexity--something that cannot be easily understood. The history that this project researches, is, like the baby and the bathwater, a complex mixture of things that have helped and hurt people, sometimes with the same event. This story is problematic.
