This idiom expresses the idea that the thing we want to get rid of in our lives, culture, and religion can also hold things we value and we shouldn't be so quick to throw out the "bathwater" that we throw out the "baby" along with it. Is it possible to separate their positive cultural influences from their detrimental ones? For example, the CJCLDS teaches that nearly all Indigenous peoples of this land are descendants of a cursed people and they want to convert them so that they may become "white and delightsome" again. With that in mind, is there any reason to look any further into this mythology? Is it possible to separate this specific baby from its bathwater?
