myth
I was raised with many myths. Some told about the formation of the universe and everything on this planet. Some told about the formation of the CJCLDS and all the persecution early members of the Church went through. The New Oxford English Dictionary says that a myth is "A widely held but false belief or idea" and "A misrepresentation of the truth." I'm less interested in the reality or falsehood of myths than what those stories tell about the people who share them. Myths hold truths, even if they are not, themselves, true.
